About the Data

All the data to which this interface and its multiple underlying interfaces provide access have in common that they are relevant to heliospheric studies and/or provide solar wind input data for studies of solar wind - magnetosphere coupling, and that they are resident at GSFC/Space Physics Data Facility.

Most important among of them are Low and High res. OMNI:

(a) Low res OMNI (LRO) is Hourly "Near-Earth" solar wind magnetic field and plasma data, energetic proton fluxes (>1 to >60 MeV), and geomagnetic and solar activity indices. There are Daily, 27-day, and Yearly resolution derived from hourly data also. (b) High 1-min and 5-min resolution OMNI(HRO) : Solar wind magnetic field and plasma data at Earth's Bow Shock Nose, and geomagnetic activity indices. 5-min resolution derived from 1-min data with added 5-min energetic proton fluxes. All details about high res. OMNi data descriptions and about data access user may find at SPDF - OMNIWeb Service.

In addition, some data sets are as reformatted or have parameters transformed to a different coordinate system to facilitate multi-point heliospheric studies (cf.COHOWeb at NASA SPDF - COHOWeb).

Most data sets are from specific instruments carried on specific spacecraft and are as provided by spacecraft instrument teams.

"About OMNI data" or equivalent options are available on many of the underlying pages. These have more detail about the data and any processing that may have been done by us.

其中最重要的数据是低分辨率和高分辨率OMNI数据集:

(a) 低分辨率OMNI(LRO):包含每小时"近地"太阳风磁场和等离子体数据、高能质子通量(>1至>60 MeV)以及地磁和太阳活动指数。该数据集还提供由小时数据衍生的日分辨率、27天分辨率和年分辨率数据。用户可在https://omniweb.gsfc.nasa.gov/ow.html获取完整的数据描述和访问方式。

(b) 高分辨率1分钟和5分钟OMNI(HRO):包含地球弓激波鼻尖处的太阳风磁场和等离子体数据,以及地磁活动指数。5分钟分辨率数据由1分钟数据衍生而来,并增加了5分钟高能质子通量。高分辨率OMNI数据的完整描述和访问方式详见SPDF - OMNIWeb Service。

此外,部分数据集经过重新格式化或坐标系转换,以促进多点日球层研究(参见NASA SPDF - COHOWeb中的COHOWeb)。

大多数数据集来自特定航天器搭载的专用仪器,并由航天器仪器团队提供。许多底层页面提供"关于OMNI数据"或类似选项,其中包含更详细的数据说明及我们可能进行的任何数据处理。


Important NOTE about OMNI: 

Multiple source high and low res. OMNI data base is not “hard” product, which stay unchanged after it has been made/updated, we try to make quality improvement when the new data (mostly from Wind and ACE spacecraft) became available. Data could be swapping from one source to other as better delayed data becomes available. or one of the sources has been reprocessed by PI's. 多源高/低分辨率OMNI数据库并非"固定"产品,在制作/更新后仍可能变更。当我们获得新数据(主要来自Wind和ACE航天器)时,会尝试进行质量改进。随着更优质的延迟数据发布,或原始数据经首席科学家重新处理,数据源可能切换。用户可在以下链接查看完整说明:
